Wild Goose Chase

Islay is an Internationally important wintering ground for tens of thousands of migratory geese. This driven tour will take us across the island in search of some of these remarkable birds.

This full day tour is an opportunity to explore some of Islay’s more remote areas on the lookout for the thousands of Greenland barnacle and white-fronted geese that make Islay home at this time of year. While we search, we will be on the lookout for the rarer species that sometimes appear in the flocks. We will also check for birds that have been marked with collars or rings, contributing to the records to learn more about these amazing birds.
