Terms & Conditions

Cancellation and changes

If for whatever reason you have to cancel your booking, please inform Islay Encounters of the cancellation as soon as possible. A full refund will be given if the cancellation is made at least 48 hours prior to your departure time.

Islay Encounters reserves the right to change listed excursions and walks, due to prevailing weather conditions, land use, driving conditions, or for any other safety reasons. Under these circumstances the customer will have the following options:

(A) Accept the changes to the tour.

(B) Cancel and receive a full refund of all monies paid.

If Islay Encounters has to cancel an excursion, we will make every effort to reschedule. If this is not possible a full refund will be issued.

Islay Encounters shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising because of the cancellation, interruption, delay, or alteration of or to any tour.

Force Majeure – defined as any event that we could not foresee or avoid even with all due care.

Islay Encounters will be under no obligation or liability for any cancellation, interruption, delay, or alteration of or to any tour due to circumstances that come under the definition of “force majeure”. Such circumstances include, but are not limited to, sickness, bad weather, technical or transportation problems, closure of stations, ports and airports, cancellation or changes of schedules by railways, ferry companies, air or bus lines or any other similar circumstances that could not be foreseen or avoided and are beyond our control, amounting to force majeure.

Complaints

Insurance

Islay Encounters may, at times, operate in remote and difficult terrain that by its very nature could potentially be hazardous. You, the customer, must agree to accept a certain amount of risk, follow instruction and abide by the decisions of your guide, who has full liability insurance.

Islay Encounters accepts no liability or obligation for any death, illness or injury or loss of or damage to baggage or personal property caused to or suffered by you in relation to your excursion, unless you are able to prove that such injury was caused by lack of reasonable care on the part of ourselves in the performance of our obligations to you. Any medical condition or medication being taken that may affect your health or ability must be notified to Islay Encounters in advance and in writing and must be accompanied by a doctor’s certificate as to fitness. You are strongly advised to obtain adequate insurance cover for all eventualities connected with your tour.

Children

Islay Encounters takes the safety and enjoyment of all its customers very seriously. To this end, and mainly due to the difficult terrain that may be encountered on some of the trips, we have decided that on advertised tours we will unfortunately not be able to accommodate under 12’s.

But…

Of course, we don’t want the kids to miss out, so if you want to plan a family day why not contact us about our “Bespoke Tour “ option.

Dogs

At Islay Encounters we are most definitely dog lovers but, unfortunately, due to the nature of our tours, we are not able to accommodate dogs. Sorry!

Acknowledgement

Islay Encounters would like to thank land managers on Islay for their support of our small business and enabling us to showcase the fantastic habitats and species present on the Island.
